1.1 Principle of the retaining wall

  • For what purpose?

    The purpose of this type of structure is to provide a vertical or slightly inclined screen to hold the plant in place:

    • soil, which can be made up of various materials (sand, gravel, clay, etc.);

    • water in some cases too.

    These structures must withstand the thrust without slipping or tipping, i.e. they must remain stable.

  • What's the role?

    The role of these structures can be temporary or permanent, and they can take on different forms and have different uses.
