INTRODUCTION
This article details the specific features, advantages and disadvantages of the various types of metal leg scaffolding. Included in this approach are cantilever facade scaffolds, which are carried or supported by brackets anchored in the construction, and prefabricated floors.
When installing scaffolding, you need to take into account the surrounding environment (obstacles, power lines, kerbs, backfill, etc.). In urban environments, authorization is required if the scaffolding is to be installed on a public thoroughfare, in which case the contractor is responsible for protecting passers-by.
Scaffolding must be erected by a qualified and trained person, who is familiar with the instructions for setting up the structure, anchoring it and assembling it, not forgetting those relating to access and lifting equipment. This person must be equipped with the appropriate personal safety equipment (PPE).
Scaffolding may only be used once it has been approved by a qualified person. A duly completed inspection report will be drawn up.
The equipment is relatively fragile and should not be repaired on site, but in a specialist workshop (if possible with a manufacturer's representative present).
