4. Auxiliary poles
Two types of auxiliary poles exist in DC machines: commutation poles and armature reaction compensation poles. These techniques are not used in low-power magnet motors, but appear in most machines above 10 kW. We won't go into the tricky calculation of these techniques, so we'll confine ourselves to describing their influence.
