4. Hybrid digital solutions

In addition to traditional digital solutions, hybrid digital solutions can also be considered as suitable for implementing control algorithms for power electronics converters. These solutions combine hardware and software digital solutions on a single chip. Although the implementation process is more complex, it is very useful if you want to benefit from the advantages of each type of solution. Hybrid digital solutions can be classified into two main families. The first is FPGAs that can be configured to host a microcontroller in part. In this case, we speak of a microcontroller implemented as "soft" on an FPGA. The second is digital solutions integrating an FPGA with a "hard" microcontroller. In this case, we speak of an FPGA associated with a "hard" microcontroller. In what follows, both types of digital solution will be presented and discussed.
