6. Conclusion

The growing number of domestic appliances incorporating AC/DC converters is contributing to increased harmonic pollution of LV networks, even if they comply with current standards. If their number reaches a significant value, and if they operate simultaneously for long periods, their effect can be quantified by the increase in the rate of harmonic distortion of the network voltage.

These conditions are typically met by televisions, which operate mainly in the evening and are clearly the source of pollution peaks. Now there are ADSL modems and computers, whose number and operating times continue to grow. The result is an ever-increasing distortion of network voltage.

The implementation of standard NF EN 61000-3-2 for all these devices, and not just those over 75 W, should limit the increase in this distortion.
