2. Infrastructure for a variety of uses

An analysis of car use reveals two types of mobility:

  • local trips by individuals (or certain professionals): these account for 80% of all trips, and generally cover less than 50 km in a day;

  • long-distance travel and intensive use (deliveries, cabs, etc.), which can account for several hundred kilometers a day.

Infrastructure for these two types of use has appropriate characteristics:

  • for the first type, limited power (less than 22 kW, most often 3.7 or 7.4 kW single-phase) at places where vehicles are parked for long periods, typically at home, in a parking lot or on the road, is well suited to this use, where recharging takes place in hidden time.
