9. The economic and environmental challenges of electric vehicles

Since the launch of the "National Plan for the Development of Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles" by the French government on 1 er October 2009, numerous financial support measures have helped to cover the costs of the automotive transition and the creation of private and public IRVEs. Eventually, the ecosystem will have to find its economic equilibrium under the best possible cost conditions for users.

What's more, this entire ecosystem must succeed in the eco-environmental objective that justifies having undertaken it, i.e. to succeed in minimizing overall resource and energy consumption, and CO 2 production, to levels well below those of the latest generation of combustion-powered vehicles.
