1. Materials used

Overhead line supports are usually wooden or reinforced concrete poles, assemblies (porticos) of wooden or reinforced concrete parts, or metal structures of widely varying shapes and sizes, from simple trusses to lattice towers.

1.1 Wood

The wood species used are almost always softwoods, which are impregnated with antiseptic products to protect them from biological attack by insects and fungi.

For further details, please refer to standard NF C 67-100. This standard lays down the requirements for wood (pine, fir, spruce, Douglas fir or larch), post treatment methods and acceptance conditions.
