15. Conclusion

These articles show that the active antenna represents a real technological breakthrough in the field of antennas and systems. This is still an emerging field of technology, since, although a number of achievements have already been made and the principles have already been analyzed in depth, many potentialities have yet to be exploited due to current technological limitations. But major projects are underway:

  • microwave solid-state technology, with the aim of increasing power and efficiency, increasing integration density and, of course, drastically reducing costs;

  • electromagnetic and functional simulations for better design control, particularly for compliant and/or shared antennas;

  • adaptive signal processing that will benefit from the ongoing development of high-speed electronics....
