To adapt the form and characteristics of electrical energy, and thus satisfy the very wide range of applications, the need for static conversion of electrical energy was highlighted in the general introduction to the articles on Power Electronics [D 3 000] . The main families of converters are shown in figure 1 . In addition to direct converters, the figure also shows indirect converters, which use combinations of direct converters.
