 INTRODUCTION

A first article [ ] presented the logical foundations of hardware operators.

The combinatorial operators presented in the first article have no "memory": their outputs depend only on the state of their inputs. In this second part [ ], we take a look at sequential operators, which have a memory effect: the state of the outputs depends on the inputs and the previous state of the outputs. Flip-flops, based on elementary logic gates, are the fundamental elements for storing and modifying information. On the one hand, they are used to create registers, and on the other hand, they are used to create the automata needed to control processors and a large number of hardware structures. Counters are just one of these automata.
