2.1 Issues and applications

Under clinical conditions, patient monitoring enables the vital parameters described above to be continuously tracked: heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, temperature, etc. However, measuring instruments are often impractical for the patient, hindering his or her freedom of movement and mobility. What's more, they can require complicated set-up, such as the insertion of a catheter. Wearable, connected sensors represent a wireless alternative that can be worn easily and allow the simultaneous measurement of several physiological parameters.

The use of wearable connected sensors is therefore relevant to a wide range of biomedical and non-biomedical applications.
