Today, the ability to establish communications over multiple paths is a major challenge for operators and service providers keen to optimize the use of the network resources they operate, and to provide their customers with an unrivalled connectivity experience.

However, the significant increase in applications capable of exploiting QUIC protocol resources means that service providers now need to look beyond TCP as the only transport mode capable of establishing multipath communications: the UDP protocol must also be able to benefit from such a capability in order to offer a user experience functionally comparable to that of TCP communications.
