Many operations are triggered within a service provider network from the receipt of a customer’s order until the relevant service is delivered and assured. To that aim, service delivery procedures usually assume the handling of data sequentially into multiple Operations Support System (OSS) or Business Support System (BSS) applications that may be managed by different departments within a service provider's organization (e.g., billing factory, design factory, network operation center). Many of such applications have been developed in-house over the years and often operate in a silo fashion for various reasons (e.g., organization flexibility/rigidity, lack of industrialization and credentials).
