8. Conclusion

Technological developments in virtual reality continue to grow, offering individuals multiple possibilities for cognitive, sensory and motor interaction. However, a number of side-effects linked to immersion and its induced sensorimotor inconsistencies are still observable, especially if the application is not created by virtual reality experts who are familiar with the solutions to be applied to avoid these effects. In the case of poorly designed applications, immersion can produce physiological disturbances in the form of balance disorders, headaches or vision problems. On the psychological level, dissociative disorders leading to depersonalization (self-perception) or derealization (perception of the outside world) have been mentioned. These effects still represent both scientific and technological obstacles to the widespread use of virtual reality devices.
