3. Proposed solution

In 2012, AFPA launched a study project to implement a virtual solution to stationary woodworking machine training (BAMBOUS project). This project, developed in 2013 and 2014, resulted in a prototype tested in two AFPA centers in France. Further development led to an industrial version marketed under the WOOD-ED TABLE brand in 2015.

This tool (figure 2 ) consists of a table mounted on castors and equipped with a white reflective projection surface. A mast supports a block containing a video projector and infrared cameras for motion capture. For this purpose, the operator is equipped with markers positioned on his hands and 3D glasses. The equipment is completed by a remote touch screen, enabling the user to interact with the system (identification, exercise selection, virtual machine...
