4. Tools supporting MARTE

As MARTE is a recent standard, the number of tools supporting it is set to increase rapidly over the coming years. However, several UML modelers can already be found that (at least partially) support this profile, and a few model-driven engineering tools based on MARTE notations are already available.

4.1 UML modelers

Three UML modelers currently support the MARTE profile:

Papyrus, an open-source modeler that is part of the Eclipse project, provides the reference implementation of MARTE ;
Two commercial modelers also support the MARTE profile: IBM's RSA (Rational Software Architect), through a profile supplied under the Eclipse open-source license by Thales Research and Technology,...
