4. ISO 9000 standard
4.1 Context
ISO 9000 is an international standard which defines the standard requirements for implementing a quality management system (QMS). The standard is generic, i.e. it has not been written specifically for IT-related activities. It is applicable to any organization, whatever its field of activity.
Increasingly, these quality standards are combined with one or more other specialized standards to form integrated management systems (IMS). This is notably the case with the environment (ISO 14001), occupational health and safety (OHSAS 18001), information technology services (ISO/CEI 20000) and information security (ISO/CEI 27001).
