Nowadays, embedded electronic systems are in widespread use: we find them both in our daily lives (smartphones, automobiles) and in other areas such as navigation systems or intelligent military devices. These electronic systems are capable of processing large quantities of data in a short space of time, and some of this data may be more sensitive than others. These include, for example, data relating to the system user (identification data, personal information, etc.) and to the system itself (circuit configuration data, applications to be run, etc.). This means that system specifications are no longer limited to computation times and power consumption.
