4.1 Class diagram
In UML, the class is represented by a rectangle containing labels and textual elements describing its characteristics. The rectangle representing the class in UML can be split into three: the upper compartment contains the class name, the middle compartment contains the list of attributes and the lower compartment contains the list of operations. Only the upper compartment is mandatory. Attributes can be typed, and operation signatures can also be specified in a syntax close to that of programming languages.
