6. Conclusion

Properly testing a complex system is a difficult task that requires intelligence and creativity in choosing strategies and termination criteria. This is made easier when the person in charge of testing has a good understanding of the actual context of use.

It is also a task that presents pitfalls: believing that it is simpler and easier than design, which is considered more noble; believing that the more defects the test finds, the better it is; etc.

A good testing strategy can strengthen the relationship of trust between customer and supplier and reduce revalidation costs on the customer side. In short, testing a complex system is not about checking everything, but about having confidence in its robustness and behavior in critical contexts.
