1. RCSF properties, vulnerabilities and security

1.1 RCSF architecture

Figure 1 illustrates the architecture of an RCSF. Nodes take measurements using sensors controlled by programs embedded in the nodes' memory and executed by their CPUs. This data is then transmitted via the network to other nodes. This is known as multi-hop communication or routing. A node, or sometimes several nodes, called a base station (SB ), acts as a sink between the RCSF and a data processing station. The base station has two interfaces: one enabling it to communicate with the RCSF, the other with the data processing station.
