4. Security of data aggregation in an RCSF

Energy is one of the greatest constraints on wireless sensor networks, as it is rapidly depleted and, consequently, jeopardizes the smooth running of the network. Some studies show that 70% of the energy consumed in a WSN is due to wireless communications. Since the aim of an FCSN is to observe a phenomenon, an aggregation of the measurements made into useful information is often more significant than the singular measurements of all the sensors. Aggregation is one of the energy-saving techniques considered in RCSFs. It involves applying an aggregation function (e.g. min, max, average, etc.) at sensor level to a set of received values, in order to retransmit only useful information in a single data packet. In addition to saving energy, aggregation optimizes bandwidth utilization by reducing the number of messages transmitted and possible interference. However, while aggregation reduces redundancy,...
