9. Toxicity

The impact of boron and its compounds on the environment comes mainly from borate processing waste and the use of detergents and bleaching agents, as a result of the migration of soluble boron species into soils and the aquatic environment. The World Health Organization recommends a boron content of 0.3 mg/L for drinking water, but in the European Union, the limit is 1 mg/L .
