3. Batch processes. Cold wall layer crystallization

3.1 Principle

Cold wall layer crystallization is used for batch purification. It involves forming a thick crystalline layer on a cooled surface. The liquid phase may move solely as a result of natural convection, i.e. in a static mode, or by forced convection, either through a melt pumping system or by bubbling an inert gas, i.e. in a dynamic mode.
