Catalytic properties

The performance of a catalyst for the desired transformation(s) is defined by three main characteristics: its activity, selectivity and stability of performance over time, measured under the conditions chosen for the industrial process. For catalyst manufacturers and users, the aim is to assess their value by means of representative process tests (such as model reactions), which should be quick and easy to implement.

A compromise must therefore be found between these often antagonistic conditions, which is all the more difficult when the transformations are complex and the operating conditions severe.
