8. Conclusion and outlook

The economic, environmental and legislative contexts favor the emergence and development of alternative solvents such as liquefied gases, which are efficient in terms of environmental impact (biodegradability, global warming...), energy reduction (for solvent recovery and recycling) and the health of operators and consumers, to replace liquid solvents of petroleum origin such as hexane or dichloromethane. Liquefied gases can be seen as a solution to the various environmental problems associated with the use of petrochemical solvents and the implementation of less energy-intensive processes.

It's worth noting that the first use of liquefied gases for extraction was made in France by the Robertet company in 1940, using n-butane to produce "butaflors" from fresh flowers. In recent years, several manufacturers have patented and marketed extraction processes using liquefied...
