8.1 Trouton's Law
On any given floor, three types of heat exchange occur:
sensible heat exchange, due to temperature variations between two stages ;
latent heat exchange, due to the vaporization of a certain quantity of body A and the condensation of a certain quantity of body B ;
Mixing heat exchange: mixture of A vaporized with the vapour phase and mixture of B condensed with the liquid phase.
In most cases, the sensible and mixing heats are negligible compared to the latent heats. The heat balance of the stage (assumed to be adiabatic) then shows that the amount of heat supplied by the condensation of B is equal to that expended for...
