2. Land cycle

This section describes the decontamination path followed by soil containing organic pollutants to become a fully decontaminated noble building material.

In the direct heating thermal desorption process, the earth cycle is the fastest and simplest phase. In short, the soil is heated to volatilize all organic pollutants, then cooled separately from the gases. The successive operations are detailed below.

2.1 Land preparation

Soil preparation is undoubtedly the most important stage in the process. The desorption unit needs to be fed with a feedstock that is as homogeneous as possible.
