Industrial renewal of coloring matters derived from plants - Creation of an agri-industrial sector in France: hopes and challenges

Plant dyes, natural ingredients and alternatives to certain increasingly controversial synthetic dyes, are currently attracting growing interest. Couleurs de Plantes was set up in 2005 as a spin-off from a technical center seeking to enhance the value of plant-based colors. We report on this agro-industrial project and take stock of this young sector for the production and marketing of plant dyes and pigments.
