6. Data on normal melting and boiling of organic compounds
We have compiled basic data (temperatures and molar enthalpies) for the normal melting and boiling of 273 organic compounds (table 3 ).
It is becoming increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to study all new organic compounds experimentally. For this reason, many authors have sought to establish correlations which, using group contribution methods, enable fairly reliable estimates to be made of the liquid-vapor equilibrium data for many organic compounds. These methods are based on a wealth of experimental data.
On the other hand, analogous methods applied to solid-liquid equilibria lead to rather mediocre results.
