International connections

The CIE has numerous links with other international organizations concerned with light. These include the long-standing cooperation with the International Electrotechnical Commission (see specialized article in this treaty). For example, the International Vocabulary of Lighting, a 360-page volume in 9 languages, was prepared and written by the CIE's authorized technical committee and published jointly by the two organizations, as an integral part of the International Electrotechnical Vocabulary.

In many years, various CIE technical committees have liaised with technical committees of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the International Permanent Association of Road Congresses (PIARC – PIARC), and the International Building Council for Research, Study and Documentation.
