Additive manufacturing

All processes used to manufacture, layer by layer, by adding material, a physical object from a digital object.

Selective laser melting of bed powder

Additive manufacturing process in which thermal energy supplied by a laser selectively melts certain areas of a powder bed.

Building zone reference point; coordinate system of building zone

Axis system used to define the orientation of characterization test specimens. For example, XY means that the test specimens are manufactured flat (figure 33 ).
