1. Civil engineering applications

By civil engineering, we mean all activities related to the construction of infrastructure, particularly transport infrastructure (roads, railroads, port, airport and hydraulic structures, platforms of all types, tunnels, etc.). This includes both public and private works.

Lime is both the most important mineral binder in the history of construction and one of the most widely used mineral products since the beginning of the industrial era.

  • In the field of civil engineering, the Romans often cite the use of lime to dry out damp soils and seal stones during the construction of their famous roads over 2,000 years ago. Some still bear witness to their longevity, such as the Appian Way built in the 4th century BC.
