2. Geographical and historical context

The Delta 3 multimodal platform is ideally located at the center of a triangle formed by three major transport routes: the A1 Paris-Lille freeway to the west, the Haute Deûle canal to the south, and the Paris-Lille and Lens-Ostricourt rail lines to the northeast.

It is located on more than 300 hectares of land vacated by the closure of the Agglonord coal ball factory, along the eastern flank of the "116/117" slag heap, overlooking the plain from a height of around 60 meters, and on agricultural land. The site is located at the heart of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais mining history, a stone's throw from the former Oignies and Hénin-Carvin mines.
