8. Surface foundation structure

The checks to be carried out on the structure of surface foundations depend on their constituent materials.

In most cases, surface foundations are made of reinforced concrete, and their design must comply with EN 1992 (Eurocode 2). For other materials, ad hoc standards will be taken into account:

  • Eurocode 3 for steel structures ;

  • Eurocode 4 for composite steel/concrete structures ;

  • Eurocode 5 for timber structures ;

  • Eurocode 6 for masonry structures).
