2. Implementation – Experimental principle

The use of ion beams, either for the synthesis of new materials or for characterization, involves several distinct stages: ion formation, ion sorting, ion acceleration and beam shaping. In the following paragraphs, we'll look at ionization and sorting of the elements of interest.
