Peeling

This sizing process consists of removing the peripheral zone of rolled rounds, using cutting tools, to a thickness of 1 to 5 mm, depending on the diameter. The blank is selected from the range of diameters available on the market, according to the minimum thickness to be removed.

This process removes all or part of the decarburized layer and surface defects. In contrast to drawing, the metal is stress-free and its mechanical properties remain unchanged, with the exception of more or less pronounced surface hardening.
