5. Industrial applications

A large number of patents (cf. ) concerns the use of intrinsically conductive polymer films obtained either electrochemically or chemically.

The applications covered by these patents are varied and concern many sectors: anti-corrosion protection for steel [Brev1] [Brev2], aluminum and its alloys (particularly in the automotive and, above all, aerospace industries) [Brev2] [Brev3], and electronics (PCI deposits on the copper layer of printed circuits [Brev4]).

Finally, we can mention the use of anti-corrosion polyaniline films in emeraldine base form, enriched with molybdenum disulphide, whose lubricating properties give the metal excellent resistance to galling [Brev5]. These coatings are likely to be of particular interest to the oil industry, which is particularly concerned by scuffing problems at pipe-lines joints....
