1.1 Principle

Thermal spraying conceals in its very name the two essential characteristics of the processes that make it up: on the one hand, the speed of the gas that sprays the powder that is to form the deposit and, on the other, the temperature of the particles (making up the powder) to which they are carried by this same gas. Depending on the values of these two parameters, the various processes in the thermal spraying family can be easily classified (figure 1 ).
