7. Security
Solid magnesium alloys (thickness greater than 1 mm) only ignite if heated to a temperature around 20-30°C above their melting point, i.e. around 520°C for the most fusible alloys. Nevertheless, it is essential to protect the loads to be treated as soon as the temperature exceeds 350°C, especially if the load comprises massive parts in which the sawing of the feeders has exposed zones where the magnesium-zinc eutectic (melting point: 340°C) is in high concentration.
We recommend installing a safety device that switches off the heating if the temperature exceeds the set temperature by 6°C, or if the protective gas injection fails.
