ABSTRACT

Zinc, mainly used for galvanization or as an addition element in bronzes and brasses presents phase transformations at the solid state. Like any other metallic alloy in the same case, it can be heat-treated which allows for the modification of its properties. Due to the differences in shape, dimension and thickness of zinc-alloy parts, as well as their properties, processes and various applications, only certain cases are subjected to heat-treatments. This article lists the principal zinc alloys concerned before focusing on these treatments, and the implementation of the applications they allow for.

 INTRODUCTION

Like all metal alloys that undergo phase transformations in the solid state, zinc alloys can be heat treated to modify some of their properties.

However, given the properties of zinc alloys, the forming process and the applications involved, the heat treatment of zinc alloys is industrially limited to a few special cases.
