5. Production

5.1 With a single-line thin slab continuous casting machine

  • Possible production calculated, as an example, for a 120 t bag:

    • annual stoppages (major maintenance, vacations): 4 weeks/year ;

    • total availability rate of the steel mill, after deducting all stoppages for both the electric steel mill and the compact continuous furnace-roller casting unit: 0.80 ;

    • the plant is therefore expected to produce for (365 d – 28 d) × 0.80 " 270 d/year ;

    • slab thickness: 50 mm ;

    • average slab width: 1,300 mm ;

    • casting speed: 5.0 m/min ;
