4. Secondary sources of lead

Lead is one of the most recycled metals.

More than 85% of products using lead are recyclable.

4.1 Recyclable materials

  • Batteries

    Battery Council International reports in its 2007 Metal Bulletin that 97% of the lead contained in wet batteries at the end of their life has been recycled. Over the last decade, a major recycling effort has been made, since in 1995 only 85% of the lead contained was recycled.

    The result was achieved thanks to new recycling possibilities:

    • improved collection ;

    • reaction to environmental constraints and restrictive laws concerning the health of living beings...
