1. General presentation

1.1 Definition

Electroplating or electrophoretic painting involves coating a metal part with a film-forming organic coating under the combined effect of an electric field and water electrolysis reactions: a DC voltage is applied between the part to be painted and a counter-electrode, both of which are immersed in the paint.
