4. Titanium oxidation

The properties of titanium are detailed in [M 4 780] . Titanium is one of the most reactive metals, with a standard electrochemical potential Ti/Ti 2+ of – 1.63 V/ENH. As soon as it comes into contact with a source of oxygen such as air or water, a passive oxide layer of a few nanometers forms instantly; this oxide grows slowly, reaching 25 nm after 4 years in air
