4. Other impacts of advances in tribology

Tribology's efforts to protect the environment are not limited to reducing CO 2 emissions by reducing friction and to economic aspects, but also cover the following different areas:

a) Improving the environmental impact of lubricants on water, soil and air quality;

b) Consolidating the country's economic equilibrium by limiting imports and preserving resources.

For a country with few natural resources in raw materials, any import of resources weighs negatively on its overall economic balance. The sustainable use of resources and the efficient use of raw materials, including high secondary cycles (recycling), improve the economic balance. Reduced imports and increased exports, as well as high added value on imported resources, will ultimately result in positive overall...
