Figure 5 illustrates the importance of reversing the feed direction of the clusters with each pass of the machine (drawing bench, intersecting, pin bench, continuous spinning) in order to reduce the size of the clusters. In fact, in a cluster, the fibers aligned at one end can only be separated by the next rolling process if the opposite ends of these fibers are not aligned with the drawing cylinders. This reversal of the direction of the bundles is possible due to the discontinuous processing of the fiber flow, machine after machine.
