2. Traditional frameworks

Traditional timber framing accounts for around 2/3 of all timber framing claims. Deformed roofs, deformed floors, broken structural members, cracked and broken joints, and fungal and insect attacks are the main causes.

2.1 Roof deformations

The roof deformation in figure 2 a is almost imperceptible, with the rows of tiles curving slightly down the slopes. This is not damage. It does, however, illustrate a common design or workmanship fault that can lead to damage.
