How do you know if a metabolite is genotoxic?

Chemical structure analyses should be used to determine which groups are at risk (see figures "Metabolism of a double bond" and "Example of styrene metabolism").

For example, all organic substances with a double bond have the ability to open this double bond first to form an epoxide. This epoxide combines with DNA in a covalent bond. This combination is genotoxic.
